Juicy couture, the rise of a fashion brand
Juicy couture is a hot American label which has been around with us since the founders Pamela Skaist Levy and Gela Nash Taylor started it in 1995.
They set out with a simple aim: create girly apparel and become as big as other major labels. They did start out with the mindset of makingjuicy couture clothing more affordable to the general public however this practise has not continued and some of the items are considered expensive.
The first Juicy Couture items were of an athletic style such as tracksuits. However it was the now famous velor tracksuit that gained juicy couture a lot of popularity,RUBBER MATS, pushing the brand into the mainstream.
Famous celebrities also enhanced the brand by wearing the velour tracksuits most notably Madonna. The fact that she helped push the trend was rewarded with a custom tracksuit with “madge” embroidered on the rear.
In the 13 years since Juicy couture was founded we have seen a huge rise in people wearing the apparel. From sports clothing to high fashion juicy seems to be everywhere.
Juicy Couture can be considered as a brand that managed to get things right. They took a simple style of clothing and made people want it. The juicy brand is successful because it is giving people exactly what they want, they have bought into the brand and love its high class fashion style.
Teenage girls are the main buyers of juicy couture, we spoke to several about what they liked about the brand. Some suggested it was the cheeky and sexy appeal of the clothing ( a lot of the tracksuits have juicy written on the back.)
Others just found the brand “cool” the imagery and clothing was exactly on trend and what all their friends were wearing.
It seems then that juicy is a brand that has simply got things right and for this reason will be around for a long time to come. Expect to see a lot more from this brand as they will probably be a major player in the fashion industry if they simply keep doing what they are doing and appealing to younger girls.
